The Austin area's first blast of arctic air this season also brought record-breaking low temperatures.

While many locations west of Austin saw the first freeze of the season early Thursday, Friday morning brought the chance for widespread freezing temperatures. This time, areas east of Interstate Highway 35 also saw the freeze.

Austin took it one step further and broke record-low temperatures at Camp Mabry and at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). While the earliest freeze on record is Oct. 25, 2005, this is the earliest the Austin airport has recorded 25 degrees.
