CapMetro introduces MetroAlerts, a new notification system

CapMetro customers are now able to receive route-specific email or text alerts.

AUSTIN, Texas — MetroAlerts are the new way to stay updated with Austin's transportation routes. The text message or email alert system is Capital Metro’s route-specific notification service.

Customers choose which routes to sign up for and will only receive notifications for those designated routes. The plan hopes to ease services for customers by only tracking bus and rail routes they want.

CapMetro is currently posting route-specific updates to their Twitter page, which they plan to stop doing by the end of February. They will continue to post more general alerts to other social media platforms.

For email notifications, customers can sign up by clicking here.

For SMS alerts, text “CAPMETRO #” to 468311, where the “#” is your preferred route number. For example, you can text "CAPMETRO 801" to sign up for MetroRapid Route 801 alerts.
