Pflugerville may soon see Austin's Capital Metro on their streets

Pflugerville residents may soon be able to board a Capital Metro bus in order to get to the Austin area.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Pflugerville residents may soon see Capital Metro riding along their streets after the city council approved a development plan last week.

Pflugerville City Council approved a transit development plan, which Austin's Capital Metro helped develop. The plan will create a path for transit service within Pflugerville and will connect travelers there to the Capital Metro service area, the transit agency said.

CapMetro said the agency will continue to work with the City of Pflugerville to outline transit options in the area.

The program gives a process for jurisdictions located near the Capital Metro service area to access Federal Transit Administration funds for transit projects. CapMetro has worked with other areas in the region, including Round Rock, Georgetown, Buda, Hutto and Travis County, the agency said. CapMetro began services in Round Rock and Georgetown in 2017.
