Longhorns attempt to end their road woes in Norman on Saturday

Shaka's Horns are 2-4 in Big 12 road games this season.

AUSTIN, Texas — Just like the final turn of a horse race, the Horns are racing down the stretch.

"The details are going to win us games down the stretch," Texas guard Elijah Mitrou-Long said.

The Longhorns' final five games of the regular season are all critical for their March Madness dreams.

"We are starting to pick up late in February, and it's going to lead to March. And, hopefully, a tournament win," Texas guard Kerwin "Snoop" Roach said.

"Anybody can beat anyone at this time," Long said.

True story, but Shaka's Horns are in decent position currently to lock up an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Despite UT's 15-11 overall record, the Horns have a solid ranking in the national net rankings: 36th.

The Net Ranking is one of the main tools the NCAA Tournament selection committee uses to determine at-large bids in the field of 68.

"Isn't too many worried about it, we're just really focused on basketball," Roach said.

As they should, because three of the final five games of the regular season are on the road — which hasn't been kind to UT this season.

The Longhorns are 2-4 in Big 12 road games this season. It's a mystery why the Longhorns play so poorly and can't close out games away from the Frank Erwin Center in Big 12 play.

But, I do have a feeling the Longhorns will play on another level up in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday.

"We're definitely looking forward to playing Oklahoma in their home," Long said.

Maybe it's because of that fun-loving hatred towards the Sooners.

"What I hate about Oklahoma is definitely the weather. I don't do cold, and it's kind-of windy up there. What I love is it's another great place to get a win," Roach said.
