ROUND ROCK, Texas -- While countless citizens came together to honor a Round Rock police officer who died from injuries sustained in the line of duty, one special girl's act of kindness really stood out.

Found slid under the door of the Round Rock Police Department was $4 and a letter that read:

"Thank you for everything you do I'm sorry to hear about Officer Whites. I wanted to donate my allowance. Love, Ximena."

The police department shared the news on Twitter Thursday morning along with their own message:

"Thank you Ximena and everyone else in the Round Rock community who expressed their support. This is why we do what we do. We love our city! #keeptheallowance."

According to Public Information Specialist Nick Olivier, Ximena did not leave a return address, so the police department could not thank her personally and tell her to keep her $4.

But, he said, they might need to do a little "detective work" to identify the generous young Samaritan.

On Monday, that detective work paid off. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks was able to surprise the 7-year-old, giving her a hug, "goodies" and a close-up look at Officer Charles Whites patrol vehicle.

Officer Whites died on April 27 following injuries sustained from being struck by a driver in February while working the scene of a hit-and-run on Old Settlers Boulevard. Officer Whites was laid to rest on Wednesday.
