Police identify pedestrian struck and killed by Jeep on Riverside Drive

Police said the man was transported to the hospital on Feb. 21, where he died a short time later.

AUSTIN, Texas — Police have identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed in the late hours of Feb. 21 on Riverside Drive.

The Austin Police Department said Rosbel "Rudy" Tamez, 64, was crossing the road near Uphill Street when he was struck by a 2017 silver Jeep Patriot that was traveling eastbound on Riverside.

Tamez was then transported to St. David's South Austin Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The APD is still investigating this case and asks anyone with more information to contact them at (512) 974-5594. Tips can also be made using the APD's mobile app.

This is the city's ninth fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in nine fatalities.
