Cedar Park officials find 29 guns, materials typically used to make explosives inside home

The items were found inside a home in the 2100 block of Parksville Way.

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Central Texas law enforcement officers found dozens of guns and materials typically used to make explosives inside a home in Cedar Park Wednesday evening.

The Cedar Park Police Department (CPPD) said on Wednesday that officers were on the scene in the 2100 block of Parksville Way after they got a call from a concerned citizen at around 2 p.m. about items discovered inside her home.

The CPPD worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Austin Police Department's Bomb Squad to safely remove the objects from the house. CPPD provided an update Thursday, saying that some of the items removed from the house included 29 firearms, ammunition and various materials and chemical agents typically used to make explosives.

CPPD said the ATF will be sending some of the items and materials off to be tested.

During the initial investigation, four nearby homes were evacuated and some streets were shut down in the area. The evacuated residents were allowed back inside their homes at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

CPPD said that this remains an active investigation, and it is working with the ATF on what charges may be filed in connection with this case.

Crews with Austin-Travis County EMS, the Cedar Park Fire Department, Cedar Park EMS and the FBI were also on the scene Wednesday evening.
