Alorica to close Austin site, terminate 712 employees

The company filed a letter with the Texas Workforce Commission on Oct. 29, detailing the site's closure and employee terminations.

AUSTIN, Texas — An Irvine, California-based company is closing its Austin location and laying off more than 700 employees, according to a letter filed with the Texas Workforce Commission.

Alorica, an outsourcing company specializing in sales and customer support, will terminate 712 employees and permanently close its site, located at 7401 E. Ben White Blvd., on Dec. 31, the letter states.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter/notice was filed by the company's vice president of employee experience on Oct. 29. That's also when employees were notified of their termination dates.

According to Alorica's website, the company has 54 locations and 50,000 employees in North America alone.
