AUSTIN, Texas — Monday marked the end of a record-setting July in Austin. This was a July that will now go in the books as the hottest in recorded history for the main reporting site in Austin.

The daily high temperature at Camp Mabry came in at 107 degrees on July 31, a new daily record. Using Monday's high, we are now able to project an average monthly temperature of 90.7 degrees.

The average temperature of 90.7 degrees narrowly beats out July 2022, which had an average temperature of 90.6 degrees.

Just by looking at the high temperatures from the month, you can see how scorching it was. Almost every day was above average, with only one day below average and one day at average.

July also broke a record for the longest streak of 105 degrees or above, with 11 days, from July 10 to July 20. This record was very impressive, as it beat the previous streak of nine days that was set 100 years ago.

As we head into August, we will challenge another heat streak for consecutive triple-digit days. As of July 31, we are at 24 days. The previous streak of 27 days set from July 17 to Aug. 12 of 2011.

We are anticipating to break that record and potentially surpass it for many days, as triple-digit numbers stay in the forecast for the next week.
