Austin airport won't allow parking reservations through the end of March

The airport said the temporary change was made "due to high volumes of travelers."

AUSTIN, Texas — Spring marks a busy festival season in Austin. Both South by Southwest and Rodeo Austin kick off later this week, on March 8.

In addition to festival season, many colleges and universities also go on spring break in March. The University of Texas at Austin will be on break from March 11 through March 16, and St. Edward's University is off from March 9 through March 15.

But as many fly in and out of Austin this month, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is making some updates to its parking policy.

Through the end of March, AUS will not allow travelers to make parking reservations at any of its three main parking areas.

The airport's parking website states: "Due to high volumes of travelers, reserved parking for the Red Garage, Blue Garage and Economy Parking are temporarily unavailable through March 31, 2024. This helps ensure parking is available to all customers. Thank you for your patience."

And the parking reservation update isn't the only change coming to AUS.

The airport's parking website also states that new rates are coming to the Blue and Red garages in April.

Currently, rates are set at $19 per day for the Blue Garage and $29 per day for the Red Garage. Starting April 1, travelers interested in long-term parking will be charged $23 per day for the Blue Garage and $32 per day for the Red Garage.

AUS economy parking currently costs $12 per day. The airport hasn't said if that rate will also change.

Short-term parking is currently $32 per day.
