AUSTIN — After the Texas Longhorns lost to Oklahoma State Cowboys over the weekend, head coach Tom Herman said the suspension of three of his players played a role in the loss.
Herman suspended three of his players for the first part of the Oklahoma State game because they were late to a team function.
Receiver Lil Jordan Humphrey had to sit out the first series on offense. But cornerbacks Kris Boyd and Davante Davis missed the entire first quarter on defense. And Oklahoma State scored 17 points while they were on the sidelines.
Herman admits that missing those cornerbacks was a key, saying “I would be foolish to say it wasn’t a factor. It certainly was. I don’t know how much.”
But Herman went on to say there were many factors in falling behind early in Stillwater.
“I don’t think it was the determining factor for the opening quarter onslaught," Herman said.

Texas lost its second game of the season but suffered only its first conference loss. That still has the Longhorns tied for first place in the Big 12.
“From a big picture standpoint, the loss was not devastating," he said. "We still control our own destiny.”
Texas plays West Virginia this week in Austin. It’s a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at the Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
