Suspect dies after police chase ends in Austin crash

The chase reportedly started in Williamson County and ended with a crash at Bethune Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department and Williamson County deputies are investigating after a person died after a police chase early Thursday morning.

The chase reportedly started in Williamson County and ended with a crash at Bethune Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.

During a press conference, Austin police said they received a call at about 1:30 a.m. from Williamson County officials, saying they were working a police case that was headed south on Interstate 35.

The pursuit reportedly ended with a car crash at Bethune Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.

Austin police classified this as an "in custody death."
