LIST: City of Austin closures for New Year's

Here's a breakdown of what will be closed and when.

AUSTIN — City of Austin offices and facilities will be closed several days over the next two weeks in observance of New Year's.

Below is a breakdown of what will be closed and when:

City of Austin offices administrative offices and other municipal facilities

These offices and facilities will close on Tuesday, Jan. 1, then normal business hours will resume the following day.

Trash and recycling

Austin Resource Recovery curbside collections won't happen on Jan. 1, but all trash, recycling and yard trimmings/compost collection will move one day and occur between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5.

The Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center will be closed on New Year's Day.

Austin Public Libraries

All branches of the library will be closed on New Year's Day.

Parks and Recreation centers

All recreation centers, museums and cultural arts centers, nature centers and senior centers will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Aquatic facilities -- except Barton Springs Pool, which will remain open but operate unguarded from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. -- will close at 4 p.m. on New Year's Day.

Austin's New Year's Celebration

The city's New Year's celebration will take place on Monday, Dec. 31 on Vic Mathias Shores. It is a free festival of music, art, food and family-friendly fun, which starts at 3 p.m. and ends with a fireworks finale at 10 p.m. Some roadways in the area will be affected.
