St. Edward's University underwear thief sentenced to 18 months in prison

Police apprehended Jacob Dale Davidson with piles of underwear in his vehicle.

AUSTIN, Texas — A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing underwear from female student athletes.

On Wednesday, Jacob Dale Davidson was found guilty of burglary of a building at Austin's St. Edward’s University.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 14, 2019, Davidson broke into the laundry room of a community building at the university several times, stealing the items of clothing. He was spotted multiple times in and around the laundry room.

A student caught Davidson climbing through the window of the laundry room and took photos of him, according to the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. Those photos were turned over to the St. Edward’s University Police Department.

Another student saw Davidson in his car and reported the license plate number to campus police, the district attorney’s office said.

Police apprehended Davidson with piles of underwear in his vehicle.

Judge David Wahlberg in the 167th District Court led the sentencing on Wednesday.
