Father begging for increased reward after Austin man’s shooting death

Joshua Hardesty, 26, died after he was shot at a northeast Austin apartment complex.

AUSTIN — A father is begging for justice after someone shot and killed his son at a northeast Austin apartment complex.

The deadly shooting happened last month at the Heights on Parmer Apartment Homes. Joshua Hardesty, 26, died after he was shot multiple times in the parking lot.

"There are people out there who know exactly what happened and who did this," said Clifford Hardesty, Joshua Hardesty's father. "And I really need justice to be served."

His father told KVUE that right now there is a $1,000 CrimeStoppers reward being offered to catch whoever is responsible for Hardesty's death. But his father wants that reward to increase to $10,000 to encourage more people to come forward.

"From personal experience in the past, I've lost a friend, and I know for that matter had the $1,000 CrimeStoppers reward," he said. "But when they upped it to $10,000, then all of a sudden tips started coming in and they quickly found a lead and found the murderer."

Police said the incident may have stemmed from a drug transaction. Investigators believe there may be multiple people involved in this crime.

Anyone with information is urged to call police or CrimeStoppers.
