AUSTIN — A man who became the face of an international debate over 3D-printed guns is facing new charges related to an encounter police said he had with a 16-year-old girl over the summer.
Cody Wilson, the 30-year-old founder of Defense Distributed, was charged in September with sexual assault. But in late December, a Travis County grand jury indicted him on charges of indecency with a child by contact and indecency with a child by exposure -- both second-degree felonies for which he faces up to 20 years behind bars.

The grand jury also indicted Wilson on a sexual assault charge.
Each of the charges stems from the same encounter police said he had with the teen.

Austin police charged Wilson in September after the teen said she and Wilson met on a website where members are required to be 18.
They then went to a North Austin hotel, where they had an encounter, according to an affidavit.
Wilson's attorney has said his client thought the teen was of the age of consent.
Wilson has since resigned from Defense Distributed and is now out of jail after posting a $150,000 bond.
