Granger ISD teacher placed on leave after allegations of inappropriate behavior

The district and Child Protective Services are investigating.

GRANGER, Texas — A Granger ISD teacher has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of inappropriate behavior.

Granger ISD said district officials have received reports of inappropriate behavior by a teacher in the classroom. Upon learning of the allegations, Granger ISD said it immediately contacted Child Protective Services (CPS) and placed the teacher on administrative leave.

However, after an investigation by the district and CPS, the allegations weren't substantiated, so the teacher was allowed to return to the classroom.

Granger ISD then said as of Thursday, CPS has reopened the investigation and the teacher has again been placed on leave pending the outcome of it. The district said it is also conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with its policies and is fully cooperating with CPS as part of that agency's investigation.

"The safety and welfare of all students is the overriding priority of the District," Granger ISD said in a press release. "The District appreciates those who brought the information forward and encourages continued reporting by others when a concern exists regarding the health or safety of our GISD student population. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all, and any misconduct will be addressed swiftly and appropriately."

No additional information is available at this time.
