APD: 21-year-old killed in apparent shooting at North Austin apartment complex

Austin police said no arrests have been made at this time.

AUSTIN, Texas — An investigation is ongoing after a man was killed at a North Austin apartment complex.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said they were responding to reports of a shooting at Avalon Palms Apartments on Northgate Boulevard just before 8 p.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Francisco Muntufa Miranda with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Police said that during their preliminary investigation, they discovered one or more suspects in the incident frequent the apartment complex. APD said that no arrests have been made and the suspects remain at large.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call APD's Tip Line at 512-974-TIPS. You can also submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by calling 512-472-8477 or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

APD said this is Austin's fourth homicide investigation of 2024.
