Man indicted for paying to have Austin man killed

A man has been indicted for allegedly paying another man to kill an Austin man in 2017.

AUSTIN, Texas — A second man has been indicted in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old Majid Hemmasi in North Austin on July 26, 2017.

Sidney Parker, 40, was arrested initially for the intentional murder of Hemmasi and the attempted murder of a woman. But now, 41-year-old Marquis Collins has also been indicted in connection to Hemmasi's murder.

According to the indictment, Collins allegedly paid Parker to kill Hemmasi.

Parker pled guilty on Thursday to aggravated assault charges for the shooting of the woman and agreed to 25 years in prison.

The Travis County District Attorney's Office said the murder case of Hemmasi will be refiled in the future, once the investigation has been completed.
