Two to three suspects sought in North Austin man's murder

Police are investigating after a man died from injuries sustained in a suspected robbery on North Lamar Boulevard.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is dead after being stabbed Sunday in what Austin police believe was a robbery.

Police responded to the Villas of Quail Creek apartments at 9036 N. Lamar Blvd. at 10 p.m. Upon arrival, victim Pedro Calcalel, 49, was found with multiple stab wounds.

According to police, Calcalel was a resident at the apartment complex and was stabbed in the parking lot while taking out the trash.

Police stated Calcalel made his way back to the apartment after he was stabbed.

Calcalel was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. He was pronounced dead Monday at 6:45 a.m.

Witnesses said multiple male suspects fled the scene after the altercation with Calcalel.

Police said they are looking for two to three male subjects that are either Hispanic males or black males who speak Spanish.
