The U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) has arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of an Austin woman in September.

On Thursday, the unit announced that they arrested 28-year-old Justin Barend Justice in connection with the shooting death of 46-year-old Teressa Ferguson in north Austin on Sept. 30.

Ferguson was found dead in a vehicle near the Interstate 35 Frontage Road and Rundberg Lane after her vehicle hit a guardrail. However, according to the Austin Police Department (APD), Ferguson's injuries were "not consistent" with injuries someone would sustain in a car crash. It was later revealed that Ferguson died from a gunshot wound.

After an investigation, APD identified Justice as the suspect in the case. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Oct. 23.

After APD requested assistance, the LSFTF launched a fugitive investigation to locate Justice. Investigators discovered that he was known to frequent the North Austin area, where he later fled on foot in the 2800 block of AW Grimes in Round Rock.

Authorities with the force arrested Justice in the 100 block of Roundville Lane in Round Rock.

Justice was taken to the APD headquarters and booked into the Travis County Jail on Oct. 31. He has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to this case. He also faces two charges of evading arrest and two charges of failure to comply with the sex offender registry, as well as felony drug possession of a controlled substance.

Justice is being held on a total bond of $310,000.
