AUSTIN, Texas — With her big blue eyes and infectious smile, Kira is a vibrant 8-year-old girl in the first grade who is eager to find a forever family to love and care for her.
Kira has a lot of energy and likes to have fun. She's been in foster care for three years, and her caseworker said she has already been through a lot during her childhood. For the first four years of her life, she basically had to raise herself.
Now she's currently living in a foster home. Her foster mom said she would do best with parents who can really care for her and give her lots of patience, attention and unconditional love.
Like other little girls her age, Kira enjoys the simple pleasures of life.
"I like having pillow fights!" Kira said.
She also loves spending time running around outside, and she really loves climbing trees.
"Trees aren't bad. They're just the happiest thing ever!" Kira said. "I like to climb in trees, and the tree that I climbed in was very high and I love very high stuff. Trees are my favorite."
Kira would do best as an only child, but she also thinks she would like to be a big sister.
"I like taking care of younger people," Kira said.
Her favorite color is pink, and she said she would like someone to help her with her reading and to be patient with her.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.
