Austin entrepreneur Blaine Anderson making a splash with dating coaching business on 'Shark Tank'

Anderson coaches men all around the world on how to navigate modern dating.

AUSTIN, Texas — Blaine Anderson pulls a card off a wall full of pictures of happy couples.

"This is Brady and Jenni, and this is their wedding invite," Anderson said. "They got married last March."

It’s another successful couple getting married, all thanks to Anderson. She’s not specifically a matchmaker, though. Her niche is coaching men from around the world on how to navigate modern dating.

"They are really deserving, genuine, awesome guys, but it is hard to figure out how to stand out in this day and age of social media,” Anderson said.

Giving dating advice is something Anderson’s always had a knack for.

"I would look at my friends’ dating apps, like guys who I knew were really awesome, and I look at their dating app and be like, 'This is not showcasing you well,'" Anderson said. “So, I would help them edit it and then they would get way better results, and I was like, ‘OK, I'm kind of good at this.’”

She started reaching out to men on dating apps to find clients when she was starting her business in Austin back in 2020.

“I was like, you know, 'Where do I find potential customers, outside my friends?' And so I thought, 'OK, where are single guys hanging out?' OK, on dating apps,” Anderson said.

Those eight clients she got from dating apps started her business Dating by Blaine. Now she utilizes her millions of views on Instagram and TikTok videos to reach more potential clients.

But she doesn’t just do social media posts. She's turned her advice into a full-scale business model selling courses on texting and online dating, master classes, as well as one-on-one coaching sessions.

"How to better understand women and what they're looking for, how to know, identify what you bring to the table and make sure women are able to see those things," Anderson said.

Anderson said some men need more help because dating is just not what it used to be.

“I think things have gotten harder dating-wise, with the introduction of social media and texting, because those things you didn't have to consider before,” Anderson said. "You always met people in person. You always call them on their landline … Now you're expected to get to know people over social media via Snapchat, by communicating in written word, which not everybody excels at."

Recently, her company's success landed her a spot on season 15, episode 3 of ABC’s "Shark Tank." On the episode, Anderson said her overall sales since she started midway through 2020 is $2.2 million. She went into the tank wanting to make a deal with shark Mark Cuban, and that’s what she left with.

"I think he is a great role model for the type of men who I work with," Anderson said. “He has it all, you know? He has a marriage, he has a family, he has a successful business.”

Now with her new mentor, she plans to continue changing the lives of more men.

“Nothing brings more joy to somebody's life than having a partner that you can share it with, and so helping people find that and achieve that really means the world to me,” Anderson said.
