Here's how hot we get on our Memorial Day

AUSTIN, Texas — As we've seen and felt throughout this week, it's been hot and humid – and that's going to continue through the Memorial Day weekend, known as the unofficial start to summer.

Memorial Day forecast

While we did not hit the triple digits for Saturday (99 at Camp Mabry) or Sunday (96 at Camp Mabry), it's possible we could make a run for 100 on Monday. Our current forecast calls for a high around 99 degrees.

Additionally, we're tracking heat indices for the weekend getting above the 110+ range. We will likely have more heat advisories like what we had for the last two afternoons for spots, as heat indices reach the aforementioned range.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for parts of the KVUE area through 8 p.m. on Memorial Day with "feels like" temperatures up to 115 possible.

It's important that you drink plenty of water and limit outdoor exertion.

With this, many will be headed out to area lakes, and while lake levels have improved at Lake Buchanan, they have not improved as much at Lake Travis, so we'll need good rains in the southern Hill Country to help with that. Lake Buchanan is at 72% and Lake Travis is at 40%, so for those boating on the latter, you'll want to watch for objects that are usually underwater.
