Forecast: Turning up the heat this weekend, even hotter next week

Here are the latest updates from the KVUE Weather Team.

AUSTIN, Texas — A few weakening storms will be possible across the Hill Country through the early overnight, otherwise our weather is now turning much drier and quite hot. Saturday morning will be pleasant in the 60s, but the afternoon will soar into the low and mid 90s with a high near 94 in Austin. Sunday afternoon will be virtually the same with a high of 93.

High pressure that has been parked over Central America and the Caribbean has been guiding storms into Central Texas for the past couple of week, but this high pressure moves closer to us for this weekend and next week. This means our forecast will be increasingly influenced by the "heat dome".

The hottest weather of the next 7 days will be next Tuesday and Wednesday with a high of 96 in the forecast for Austin. A weak disturbance will bring a chance for some widely scattered storms by the middle and end of next week with a very small cool down.

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Mostly clear. Calm wind.
LOW: 66

SATURDAY:
Sunny and hot. Southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph.
HIGH: 94

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Mostly clear. Patchy fog late. South wind at 5 to 10 mph.
LOW: 70

SEVEN-DAY FORECAST:

Turning up the heat for this weekend.
