AUSTIN, Texas — The past few weeks have certainly offered up many warm and humid days, but conditions are going to get a bit steamier this week.
While rain chances take a bit of a break, the heat will take over, leading to highs in the lower and potentially even mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday. The average high temperature for this time of year is about 84 degrees.
We've certainly seen our fair share of the 80s in the past couple of weeks, but we've only hit 91 once since the start of meteorological spring on March 1.
So, comparatively, this spring has been on the normal side.
Tuesday high temperatures will be up to 90 degrees for at least half our Central Texas counties. Heat indices will range from the mid-90s to the lower 100s.
At the same time, the UV index will be at a level of 8 or 9, which could result in sunburn if you are spending extended period of time outside. These next couple of days will be a good reminder that summer is on its way, and you may need to shift around your day-to-day activities a bit to avoid excessive heat – like walking the dog or exercising in the early morning and late evening.
A cold front will usher in drier, cooler air by the end of the week. This will also come with a brief chance for active weather.
Here is a look at the rest of the week's forecast.
