Austin heat tracker: Days at or above 105 degrees

This weekend's forecast includes temperatures at or above 105 which continues at least through Tuesday.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin area has been setting July heat records left and right.

For an 11-day stretch that ended Friday, July 21st, Camp Mabry recorded an afternoon high that was at or above 105 degrees. This consecutive 11-day streak is now the longest-running streak of 105-degree temperatures or higher in Austin's history.

The previous record for the longest temperature streak of 105 degrees or greater dates back to August 1923 – 99 years and 11 months ago.

The 9-day streak was pretty significant compared to other 105-plus-degree streaks on the leaderboard that stand at five or six days, back in 2000, 2011 and 2022.

While it is significant to beat out a previous record, there will be chances to start a new streak over the next several days.

This weekend's forecast includes temperatures at or above 105, which could continue at least through Tuesday of next week.

From our current standpoint, the KVUE Storm Team is expecting to end up with a new streak of at least four days. Stay cool out there!
