Austin airport offering flights to 6 new locations

Thursday was the first day travelers could fly directly from Austin to Panama City, Panama.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austinites who are eager to travel to new locations but hate layovers will have a handful of new options to explore this year. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is now offering direct flights to six new locations.

Thursday marked the first day a flight departed from Austin to Panama City, Panama. The route will be accessible year-round and is operated by the Panamanian-based Copa Airlines.

Starting this year, the Austin airport will also offer direct flights to the U.S. cities of Omaha, Neb., Pensacola, Fla., Montrose, Colo. and, starting on Dec. 7, Santa Fe, NM., as well as internationally to Calgary, Alberta.
