'No known threat' for suspicious device near Congress Avenue bridge, APD says

The bridge and other nearby roadways have been reopened.

AUSTIN, Texas — Traffic flow has resumed Friday afternoon in the Congress Avenue bridge area after the Austin Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious package.

APD said just after 1 p.m. that officers were responding to the call at 111 E. Cesar Chavez St., near The LINE Austin and the Congress Avenue bridge. However, by 1:48 p.m., APD said there was not an active threat in the area and that the reported device had "no known threat associated with it."

Roadways in the area were closed, including the Congress Avenue bridge from Cesar Chavez to Barton Springs Road. As of 1:48 p.m., all roadways have reopened.
