2017 ROT Rally road closures

Thousands of bikers are in Austin this weekend for the annual Republic of Texas Biker Rally, and roads will be closed downtown Friday evening as one event from the rally takes place.

AUSTIN – Thousands of bikers are in Austin this weekend for the annual Republic of Texas Biker Rally, and roads will be closed for part of the weekend as the event takes place downtown.

The rally runs June 8-11, but the parade will be along Congress Avenue on June 9. Starting at 6 p.m. June 9, Congress Avenue will be closed between Cesar Chavez and 11th Streets, as well as 2nd through 10th Streets between Brazos and Colorado Streets. The closure is expected to end around 12 a.m. June 10.

Austin police said the parade will start at 7:45 p.m. June 9 at the Travis County Exposition Center and take the following route:

- South on Decker Lane to FM 969/East MLK Boulevard,
- Left on Webberville Road,
- Left on Springdale Road,
- Right on Oak Springs Drive/Rosewood Avenue,
- Left on Hargrove,
- Right on Pleasant Valley Road (will cross a bridge),
- Left on Chestnut,
- Right on Rosewood,
- Right on 11th Street,
- Left onto Congress Avenue.

Police added vehicles will be towed form Congress Avenue starting at 4 p.m. Friday.

Many motorcycles will be on Austin roads during the weekend, and motorists are reminded to keep an eye out for motorcycles.
