Lake Travis baseball coach picks up 700th career win

Mike Rogers reached the 700-win plateau three seasons after earning his 600th career win.

LAKEWAY, Texas — It all began at Buna High School in southeast Texas. Mike Rogers led that baseball program to 81 wins in four seasons.

Twenty-seven years and four high school baseball programs later, Rogers took over the baseball program at Lake Travis High School in 2014.

In March of 2016, the Cavaliers earned Rogers' his 600th career win as a high school baseball coach.

Three seasons later, on Tuesday night Lake Travis beat Lehman, 8-7. Rogers reached the 700-win plateau.

The respected member of the Texas high school baseball coaching fraternity has coached Major League Baseball prospects, countless division-one college baseball players, including Bretty Baty, the recent University of Texas signee/Gatorade Texas High School Player of the Year, in 2018.

Rogers' Cavs are currently undefeated with a 15-0 record and will meet their rivals from Westlake at Westlake High School Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
