AUSTIN — For the 60th anniversary of Austin's beloved Zilker Summer Musical, fans still have ample time to see "All Shook Up."
Every summer at Zilker Hillside Theatre in Zilker Park, the Zilker Theatre Productions provides free Broadway musicals. This year's production, "All Shook Up," opened on July 6 and ends Aug. 18. Performances happen Thursday through Sunday evenings each week.
"All Shook Up" is a musical farce based on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and featured interpretations of Elvis Presley's biggest hits.
"We’re using the 60th anniversary as a way for ZTP to turn the corner and expand our offering to Austin,” said Zilker Theatre Productions artistic director J. Robert Moore. "In addition to putting on the best summer musical possible, we’re looking at other ways of reaching people year-round. Later in the year, we're planning a fall 60th birthday fundraiser, and we’ll have an expanded presence this winter at the Trail of Lights. In the next few years, we're looking to roll out more productions and outreach programs outside of the Summer Musical.”
