HUTTO, Texas — Hutto will enter Stage 1 water restrictions starting on May 1.

The city of Hutto said Stage 1 water conservation efforts are voluntary but encouraged. The efforts include:

  • Industrial, commercial and institutional customers voluntarily watering outdoors only on Mondays and Fridays
  • Even-numbered residential addresses voluntarily watering outdoors only on Sundays and Thursdays
  • Odd-numbered residential addresses voluntarily watering outdoors only on Saturdays and Tuesdays

Customers are encouraged to only water outside before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. on their designated days. "Outdoor watering" is defined by the city as using automatic irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers

If Hutto enters Stage 2, all Stage 1 efforts will be required and enforceable. Also under Stage 2, swimming pool filling and vehicle washing can only occur during designated dates and times.

The city also noted that Jonah Water customers continue to be in Stage 1 voluntary water restrictions. Starting on May 1, Manville water customers will follow a mandatory summer watering policy until Sept. 30. Customers should refer to their watering bill to determine their water providers.
