AUSTIN — Beachside Billy's restaurant and bar in Volente is staying open to give flooding victims a place to grab some food or simply get out of the house.
Flooding of Lake Travis caused many people in the area to lose their homes and have to evacuate.

"I can't believe the ground is saturated," said John Lyne, owner of the restaurant and bar. "There's nowhere for the water go anymore."
But with the restaurant and bar being open, the surrounding community now has a place to come together while they look at Lake Travis filling nearly filled to it's brim, covering what used to be their beach side.
"We've got to kind of wait and see what the water does after it recedes," Lyne said. "It's part of living out here on the lake but it's still very frustrating.'
For Lyne, there's not much he can do besides wait for the water to go down. "If I sit here much longer, I might start crying," he said jokingly.
Those working in the restaurant are holding on to their community as the floodwaters go away.
Manager Ashley Byers said "We're willing to do anything we can to help anybody, so we're here.'
