Teen turns self in after allegedly stabbing classmate with pencil

Cameron police say a student has turned himself in after he allegedly stabbed another student with a pencil during class.
Police are looking for 17-year-old Jacob Ayers after he allegedly stabbed another student with a pencil at Cameron Yoe High School.

CAMERON, Texas -- Police say the student who allegedly stabbed another student during class Monday has turned himself in.

Officials say Jacob Ayers, 17, turned himself in to the Milam County Jail without incident at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

At 11:50 a.m. Monday, Cameron police received a call relating to a stabbing incident at C.H. Yoe High School. Police arrived to find a 17-year-old male with a stab wound in the lower abdomen. The suspect and the victim were said to be involved in an altercation that escalated into Ayers stabbing the victim with a pencil.

Ayers left the scene in a red Dodge Charger that was later found off of County Road 221. A witness reported that Ayers may be in a brown or black, dark-colored extended cab pickup.

The victim was transported to emergency surgery at Baylor Scott and White Hospital.

Cameron ISD locked down the school for the day as the incident was investigated.

Ayers was taken into custody on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. As of Monday evening he is awaiting arraignment for the incident.
