Victim identified in homicide Sunday night at North Austin apartment complex

The shooting happened on Rutland Drive, and Austin police are still searching for a suspect.

AUSTIN, Texas — Law enforcement officials have identified the man who died Sunday night in Austin's 18th homicide of this year. 

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), first responders began receiving calls about shots fired at approximately 8:37 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive in North Austin. 

APD arrived on scene just before 8:45 p.m., where officers found Lowen Alberto Ordonez Lobo suffering from gunshot wounds outside The Villas Del Sol apartments. 

Members of the Austin Fire Department, APD and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) worked to try and save Lobo, but he died at approximately 8:49 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists investigated further by speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence. 

A reward worth up to $1,000 could be available for anyone who is able to offer tips that could lead to a possible arrest. Call APD at 512-974-TIPS or the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at 512-472-8477 to provide any additional information.
