SCHERTZ, Texas — The Schertz Police Department has confirmed that a Comal County deputy has died from injuries sustained in a car accident on Thursday.
According to Schertz PD, officers were dispatched to the intersection of FM 3009 and Dimrock at approximately 5:15 p.m. for a major three-vehicle accident, with one being a Comal County deputy.
The preliminary investigation shows that Deputy Ray Horn, 44, possibly suffered a medical emergency while driving, which resulted in the accident.
Deputy Horn was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Another patient was also transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into this accident is ongoing. Schertz PD said investigators will be on scene for some time working to reconstruct the accident.
