Report: Austin is second most expensive city for homes in Texas

AUSTIN -- A new report from Coldwell Banker found that Austin is the second most expensive city in Texas to buy a home.

According to the report, the average four-bedroom, two bathroom home in Texas listed for $214,994. In Austin, a similar home had an average list price of $362,030.

Several of Austin's suburbs also made the list with Cedar Park coming in at $304,574 (8th), Georgetown at $304,110 (9th), and Round Rock at $268,211 (21st).

Austin's prices were second only to Galveston/Tiki Island/Jamaica Beach which had an average listing price of $447,936 for a four-bedroom home.

Rounding out the top five in the report were Boerne, La Vernia, and Grapevine all with prices of at least $334,775.

If you're looking for the most affordable cities in Texas, Socorro topped the list with a four-bedroom home listing for $134,170 followed by Duncanville, Terrell, Lancaster, and Marshall.
