New Year's fireworks complaints rose by nearly 300 calls this year, Austin 3-1-1 says

Once Austin 3-1-1 creates noise complaint service requests, they are sent to Austin PD.

AUSTIN — Legally, Austinites aren't allowed to shoot off fireworks within or near the city limits -- but that apparently didn't stop everyone.

Austin 3-1-1 told KVUE that in the 12-hour period between 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and 6 a.m. on New Year's Day, they created 810 fireworks noise complaint service requests.

During that same 12-hour period last year, there created 512 requests.

Austin 3-1-1 said after they create those requests, they are sent over to the Austin Police Department.
