Building deemed a 'total loss' after fire Tuesday morning in North Austin

A vacant building caught fire on Polaris Avenue near U.S. 183 and Burnet Road.

AUSTIN, Texas — A vacant building caught fire early Tuesday morning in the North Austin area. 

According to a social media post from the Austin Fire Department (AFD), the fire happened after midnight in an empty commercial building on Polaris Avenue, not far from U.S. 183 and Burnet Road. 

AFD said the walls of the building were metal, so firefighters had to use a saw to enter. 

AFD said the building is a "total loss." No injuries have been reported at this time. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
