AUSTIN -- The Texas Department of Agriculture discovered a credit card skimmer Wednesday at a northwest Austin 7-Eleven location.

According to the TDA, officials responded to 11613 North FM 620 after receiving reports that the skimmer had been found on pump #15. Local law enforcement were also called to help remove the device.

The TDA said an inspector was able to find a possible Bluetooth signal from the device.

When paying at the pump with a card, the TDA offers the following tips to help you avoid falling victim to a skimmer:

- Use the pump closest to storefront, in line of sight for store personnel.

- Before pumping, check for unusual Bluetooth signals with an ID of a string of numbers and letters -- it might be a skimmer.

- Check that security tape on the pump cabinet has not been damaged. Torn tape might indicate the cabinet opened without store personnel's knowledge.

- The safest bet is to pay inside with cash.
