CapMetro's McKalla Rail Station slated to open Feb. 24

The station's opening will coincide with Austin FC's season opening match.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin's newest transit station is almost open to the public.

On Thursday afternoon, CapMetro announced on the social platform X that the new McKalla Rail Station is set to open Feb. 24.

Conveniently for soccer fans, it's opening coincides with Austin FC's first game of the season against Minnesota United at Q2 Stadium. Not only that, but the new Red Line train will connect directly to Q2 Stadium, 10414 McKalla Pl.

The station was first announced in late 2021, with construction plans including a path for shared use, special event platform, passenger platforms, increased train tracks and a better drainage system.

At the start of 2023, CapMetro provided an update on construction. Now almost a year later, the station is complete.

Austin FC's Feb. 24 match starts at 7:30 p.m.
