AUSTIN, Texas — Police on Thursday investigated what they initially called a "hazardous device" in South Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the device was found near the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Wasson Road just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
APD's Bomb Squad investigated the device and ultimately confirmed it was not an explosive.
The item was rendered safe and, as of 3:30 p.m., APD has cleared the scene.
APD said this was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
