AUSTIN -- The Austin Police Department is investigating downtown after a body was found in Lady Bird Lake Tuesday morning.
According to the Austin Fire Department, they were called out for a water rescue at Interstate 35 and Lady Bird Lake at 9:15 a.m. A woman told police she found the body.
First-responding crews at the scene said the person found in the water was "obviously deceased." Fire officials said it's not known if it's a woman or man's body.
The body was later removed and is currently at the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
No other details were immediately available.
