AUSTIN -- Austinites gathered at Pease Park for a very special birthday celebration Saturday. Eeyore turned 49. The sad donkey from the Winnie the Pooh children's series celebrated his birthday in style today.
Fans and families gathered for food, music and other events.
One party goer explained how it all started.
Eeyore's birthday started off as a celebration for just a goofy idea for a party back in 1963, Kevin Rollins said. We try to raise as much money as we can for local charities that need every little bit that they can get.
The birthday party fundraiser benefits several nonprofit groups in Austin.
Fans were also able to wear costumes.
