8 years after Tim Tebow played the Sugar Bowl, the athlete weighs in on Texas’ chances

Tim Tebow shared his thoughts ahead of the Texas Longhorns' Sugar Bowl appearance against the Georgia Bulldogs.

NEW ORLEANS — Tim Tebow was named the most valuable player of the Sugar Bowl in 2010.

The former NFL quarterback-turned-professional-baseball-player played for the Florida Gators against the Cincinnati Bearcats. He shared his thoughts ahead of the Texas Longhorns' Sugar Bowl appearance against the Georgia Bulldogs.

“I think Georgia is one of the top three teams in the country,” Tebow said. “I think they should've been in the college football playoffs.”

But Tebow still gives Texas a chance.

“Coach (Tom) Herman has them back and they are close,” Tebow said. “To be able to come in with a chip on their shoulder and see if they can get a win against a really good Georgia team.”

Texas plays Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 on ESPN at 7:45 p.m.
