How to stay on track with your New Year's fitness resolutions

An Austin gym owner shared some tips to help you stay on track with your goals.

AUSTIN, Texas —

As the new year begins, many have set resolutions. And a lot of them are centered around fitness.

When it comes to those goals, they can be hard to keep up. Jeremy Ellis, the owner and head trainer at Goodly Coaching in North Austin, shared some tips to help you stay on track.

"To maintain your goals throughout the year, I believe it's just consistency. At the moment that you kind of find your inconsistency, I think is where we lose track of that," Ellis said.

He said it's important to set attainable goals and to get help if you need it.

"Attainable is always sustainable. Not trying to overdo it, and I think if you can get a plan in place, find some accountability in that as well with either friends, workout buddies, maybe a coach or some kind of group fitness," Ellis said. "I think that is definitely the way to help you set some goals and not only attain them, but sustain them as well."

The staff at Goodly Coaching said they're open to answering questions from anyone who is looking to get started or upgrade their workouts. You can call them, or visit any gym to learn more. Many gyms also have virtual options.
