HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- William Joseph Greer, 50, was added to the U.S. Marshals "15 Most Wanted" list Thursday for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in 2006.
Greer is wanted by the Harris County Sheriff's Office for allegedly murdering Tammy Marie Esquivel on Dec. 19, 2006, according to a U.S. Marshals Service press release.
On Dec. 22, 2006, Greer was found naked by police and arrested for public intoxication in Cleveland, Texas. Greer allegedly told the police when they found him that he used drugs and accidentally killed his girlfriend. Authorities had no evidence of the murder at the time of his arrest, so they released him the next day.
A week after Greer's release, his 9- and 13-year-old sons told police they heard Greer and Esquivel arguing the morning Esquivel was killed. They said they also heard gunshots.
A murder warrant was issued for Greer in January 2007 and he was indicted in 2007. There have been alleged sightings of Greer in Kentucky and Louisiana, but he still has not been found.
The U.S. Marshals describe Greer as 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 200-220 pounds. He is listed as having green eyes and brown hair, but it was dyed blonde when he was last seen. He is also missing the second toe on his right foot. Marshals said he was known to be a chain smoker and allegedly addicted to alcohol and cocaine at the time he disappeared.
"Greer has been described as charming and likeable by those who know him, but he is skilled at ingratiating himself with others," said U.S. Marshal Gary Blankinship of the Southern District of Texas. "He should be considered armed and very dangerous."
Anyone with information of Greer's whereabouts is asked to contact their nearest U.S. Marshals office. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to Greer's arrest.
