1 person shot Thursday morning at 7-Eleven in South Austin

The shooting happened at approximately 4:40 a.m., and the victim has been transported to a nearby hospital, according to the Austin Police Department.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person has been transported to a hospital after a shooting early Thursday morning at a gas station in South Austin. 

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the person was shot at approximately 4:40 a.m. at a 7-Eleven, located off the South Interstate 35 Frontage Road near East William Cannon Drive. 

The victim was borrowing a clerk's phone when the suspect allegedly walked into the gas station and shot them. 

APD stated the victim is alive and has been taken to a hospital. 

The suspect is not in custody.
