Police investigating homicide at northeast Austin park

Police said the incident happened around 6:46 p.m. Sunday at the Dottie Jordan Recreation Center at 2803 Loyola Lane.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot and killed at a park in northeast Austin on Sunday evening.

Police said the incident happened around 6:46 p.m. at the Dottie Jordan Recreation Center at 2803 Loyola Lane.

Investigators believe 35-year-old Peyton Edmonds was involved in an altercation with another man, 24-year-old Ricarlos Hall, which led to Hall shooting and killing Edmonds. Police said Hall fled the scene.

Edmonds was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center but later died.

Anyone with any information on the case or Hall's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 512-974-TIPS or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 35th homicide of 2023.
